How to Cook/Use Avocados:
Avocados are a great way to get some healthy fats into your diet. A serving size is about 1/3 of an avocado but it's easier to cut it into halves. Remember, there is a seed about the size of a golf ball in the middle. Cut the avocado in half vertically around the seed and pull the two halves apart. Next, scoop out the seed with a spoon. Now, you can use the avocado as a bowl and scoop it out and eat it. Try adding a little lemon juice on it for extra flavor.
Avocado Egg Toast
- 1 whole wheat piece of bread
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1-2 eggs
Mash your half of the avocado and spread it onto a piece of toast. Next, scramble some eggs and put them on your toast. This is where you can get creative by maybe adding some diced tomatoes, cheese, hot sauce, or anything else you might think of. - 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 cup of milk (preferably almond or skim milk)
- 1/2 cup of frozen fruit
Add it all in a blender and BLEND!
Quick, easy, and healthy breakfast smoothie.
Tuna Avocado Bowl
The title sounds disgusting, we know, but trust us because this is freakin' delicious!
- 1 avocado (although, we are only using half of it)
- 1 can of tuna
- Some salt and pepper for taste if you'd like
Get a small bowl and empty your can of tuna into it. Mash it up with a fork until the consistency is even. Scoop out the avocado from one half and mix with the tuna in the bowl. (Don't use the whole half of avocado because your avocado bowl probably won't be able to hold it all. Try using 1/4 of the whole avocado and mixing with the tuna.) Next, if you like, you can add a little salt and pepper. Pour your contents back into the empty half avocado shell....or I guess you could just eat it out of the mixing bowl. Either way...enjoy!
